近年のゲノム解析の進展で、様々な生物種の系統において、遺伝子領域とされていなかった領域(非遺伝子領域)から新規に遺伝子(de-novo遺伝子)が出現していることが明らかにされている。特に、非AUGを開始コドンに持つ短い遺伝子が見落とされているとことが示唆されている。そこで、本研究では、Ribo-seq解析およびプロテオーム解析を駆使し、病害菌に応答する非AUGを開始コドンに持つ未知の短い遺伝子をシロイヌナズナで新たに推定し、病害菌からの感染防御を上昇させるペプチドをコードしているものを発見することを目指す。
